Wisdom teeth: Eruption of wisdom teeth is often painful. Sometimes the gum tissue around them, especially lower wisdom tweth, becomes infected (pericorinitis), necessitating antibiotics. In any case, pushing through the gums can cause pain often referred to other areas of the mouth.
