Pleuritic: Shartp chest pain when you breath is usually inflammatory in origin. Most commonly pleurisy, which is a viral inflammation of the lining of the lung. It may also be caused by pneumonia, or even a blood clot to the lungs. If you are also short of breath or have a fever, you should get it checked out.
