Ovulation: The center piece of a menstrual cycle is ovulation. Ovulation is the preparation and presentation of an egg to be fertilized for pregnancy. The period is the opposite. It represents when you are not fertile and are cleaning out the uterus in preparation for the next ovulation. You are most likely to get pregnant from exposure to fresh semen during the five days prior to the event of ovulation.
