Depends on gender: For women there are more diagnoses to consider including ovarian cyst and ectopic pregnancy. For both genders appendicitis is a consideration depending on circumstances, as is a kidney stone that has gotten stuck in the lower ureter. A hernia can also cause pain but is usually visable. This symptom should be evaluated by a medical provider as some of the causes are serious.
