A member asked:

My father had a heart attack, is he also more likely to have a stroke?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Both strokes and heart attacks are usually due to atheroscerosis (same basic process in the blood vessels, just happen to be that the vessels to one organ caused problems first). If he has serious damage to the heart from the heart attack, it might also make his heart more likely to form clots that could go to the brain and cause a stroke.
