Not always easy: Sometimes you can smell the vomit on breath, teeth decay and turn yellow, they complain of stomach pains from the acid, latter you may see swollen cheeks from enlarged salivary glands. Confront the person and be empathic to their suffering and being out of control. Encourage getting professional help.
