Help her get help: Without blaming or judgment, you could gently encourage your bulimic friend to get help from her (or his? Men can develop this illness too) physician. Bulimia may start out innocuously, but can be very serious. Repeated vomiting can rupture stomach or esophagus; electrolyte changes can result in heart arrhythmias; malnutrition, etc. Bulimia becomes a damaging way to deal with emotional pain.
