Ovarian cysts are...: Caused by hormonal imbalance in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Other ovarian cysts are not. In pcos, free testosterone is elevated (decrease in sex hormone biding globulin) ; associated with hyperinsulinemia, which is caused by Insulin resistance. If you have non-pcos cysts, the answer is probably not! pcos is part of metabolic syndrome! hirsuitism is common in pcos, not other cysts.
