Abortion?: A medical or a surgical abortion does not affect the production or rupture of ovarian cysts. If your periods are regular (28-34 days apart on average), cysts will form every month in preparation for ovulation. Large cysts occasionally form, and rupture spontaneously, which can cause pain. Ask your gyn physician about oral bcps, which stop ovarian cyst formation.
