Safe: Low oral doses of melatonin (.5-1 mg) taken at bedtime for sleep in general are as safe as any other nutritional supplement you might take during pregnancy. Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain which has numerous functions, but is most well-known for its sleep-inducing properties. Also consider vitamin b6 (unisom), or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25-50mg at bedtime for sleep.
