No, do not cause: Piles, or hemorrhoids, are enlarged veins under the lining of the rectum that are most commonly caused by excessive straining during defecation. This is often associated with hard stools and constipation. Chocolate is not a cause of this, but more a reflection of an unbalanced diet. Some have claimed that certain foods, including chocolate, can make existing hemorrhoids more symptomatic however.
