Depends: If your asthma triggers include allergies, an antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can be helpful. However, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can make you sleepy. I would recommend a non-sedating antihistamine like Claritin or allergra.

No: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is not a treatment for asthma. Depending on the severity of asthma, different medications can be used. Mostly, they are inhalers since it does not cause serious side effects when you take it for a long time. You should see an allergist or pulmonologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
