A member asked:

Please tell me, could a man have sex with the hiv positive woman and not catch it ?

Possible: It is possible for a man not to get infected with hiv. The chances of sexual partner getting infected increase when the individual has active skin lesions, ulceration on his/her genitalia and viral load of the HIV positive person. Also the immune status of the person and number of sexual partners also play a role. It is highly recommended to not have sex with HIV positive individual, if possible.

Yes: The likelihood of catching HIV through heterosexual intercourse depends on the viral load in the affected party, lesions on the genitals of both parties and other factors. See this site for more info. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/transmission.html.
