Avoid drugs, booze: Alcohol and some drugs of abuse, e.g., Cocaine can cause cardiomyopathy. Some therapeutic drugs, mostly anticancer drugs, can also cause cardiomypathy. Alcohol, due to its toxicity and nutritional deficiencies associated with chronic aloholism are among the more common avoidable causes of cardiomyopathy.
