Yes, right away!: Headache is common after a spinal tap, especially when you sit up. But there is a risk of introducing bacteria during a spinal tap which can cause meningitis. Symptoms include headache, neck stiffness and pain. You should be seen immediately to make sure you don't have meningitis! please go to an er if you can't get in to see your doctor immediately.

You probably : Have a post dural puncture headache or the pain is related to the reason you got the tap in the first place. You should go to the er for an evaluation and a blood patch to treat the pdph.

SPINAL TAP: Has complication if not done properly. See md if you are in pain, breathing problems, etc. It will eventually go away. Please be advised accordingly.
