A member asked:

When you break your maxilla are there joins that will be immobilized?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: In many cases a maxilla fracture will be reduced and immobilized with titanium plates. The number of plates and location depends upon the type and severity of the fracture. In cases or non-displaced or minimally displaced fractures it is sometimes possible to not plate the fracture and not wire the jaw. However, with severe injuries some type of surgery is usually required.
