See your doctor: The swelling is probably the result of your back spasms. Since you have not responded to medications, see your doctor so that a diagnosis can be made (x-rays mri). Once you have a diagnosis, effective treatment choices may be more obvious. Typically, treatment options include different medications, physical therapy, spinal steroid injections. Surgery, if possible, is the last resort.
