is it okay to hold your urine for the time being?

Normal anatomy: If you have normal anatomy, little problems will occur. However, urine retained in the bladder abnormally (as in the case of a neurogenic bladder or retention) may result in back pressure and urine back up in the kidney, that may result in renal damage.
