Melanin: I am unaware of any association between diet and melanin production. Some vegetarians may be deficient in certain b vitamins (b12), iron, zinc, vitamin d, protein. So a multivitamin with minerals plus attention to the proteins in your diet would be helpful. Lack of melanin can occur from sun damage, autoimmune conditions, genetic conditions (albinism), secondary effects of eczema, etc.
