A 35-year-old member asked:
what is the lingual frenectomy procedure like?

Frenulectomy: Hello. A lingual frenulectomy may be performed in a few different ways. Flaps can be developed to perform the procedure or just a simple clamp and snip of the membranous tissue with a sterile scissors. As your doctor to describe his/her technique and make sure you are comfortable that all your questions and concerns have been addressed before you sign consent. Good luck.

How do I know if i can get a lingual frenectomy?

You can: You can. The question I have is why now at age 47? Rarely the lingual frenum contributes to the loss of tissue behind the lower front teeth.
Most commonly the procedure is performed on children with a "tied tongue" causing a speech impediment.

Frenectomy: It is a quick and easy procedure for which you will be numb and not feel anything. If you have any other specific questions, you should ask your dentist prior to the procedure.
