Yes and no: Testing positive for hsv (herpes simplex virus) means that you have acquired an infection which is classified as a sexually transmitted disease (std). This is not related to HIV or cervical cancer; however, these others are caused by other sexually transmitted viruses (hiv and hpv). There is no "cure" for herpes. There are medicines which can help reduce the symptoms and the time of a flare up.
