Addiction: Your friend is an addict. They need to be in drug and alcohol treatment. It is very often difficult for them to hear this and it is often not your place to force them to care. Your friend's addiction may lead to more dangerous behavior and/or suicide even. I would advise a gentle and honest approach with them that never varies: "you are very concerned about their health" and want them sober.
