A member asked:

I was diagnosed with pcos yrs ago & put on bc. stopped takin it 2 months ago and my last 2 periods have been 9 and 10 days. did my cysts get bigger?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Excess Estrogen: Pcos is a misnomer of a diagnosis. The real culprit behind the symptoms of pcos is excess estrogen. Excess estrogen causing heavier longer periods, excess estrogen converting to testosterone and causing excess hair, and excess estrogen contributing to Insulin resistance. The # of follicles/cysts you have has really nothing to do with diagnosis. Birth control helps women prevent uterine cancer.
