Many possibilities: There are many possibilities. You really do need to be examined to find out the cause of your pain. As a general rule of thumb, any pain in the abdominal area that is significant and lasts more than four hours should be evaluated in an emergency room setting. Possibilities include diverticulitis , crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, tumors, infections, polyps, hemorrhoids causing the pain when youdefecate. Ulcerative colitis is also possible. Please get evaluated by your family doctor and gastroenterologist if not by the emergency room physician.
