Couple of things: You may have a tendonitis or you may have a bone spur preventing motion of the toe.

A few things: It could indicate arthritis (limited join motion) at the big toe joint, adhesive tendinitis, fracture or other injury, and sometimes is related to referred pain from a low back issue. See a doctor to have this checked out.
