Depends: Depend on how you are stretching and what is the cause of the underlying neck pain in the first place. Listen to your body. If it hurts to do something, stop. Your bady is telling you something is wrong. Get an exam from your doc to see if you have an issue underneath and make sure you are doing things correctly.

Indeed: Could get neck pain from stretching too hard. If you have tight muscles you can get more sore at first from a stretching program. If you have disc or neck joint pain this could be aggravated by stretching too.
