Is it safe to skip placebo bc pills and start new pack in order to skip periods. is this safe to do every month? will the bc still be as effective?

Really Bad Idea!: At least 2 reasons not to do this: you will be increasing your hormone intake thus increasing risks or hormones (blood clots, breast swelling, cancers). Also, you will be causing proliferation of your uterine lining with risks of abnormal bleeding and possible endometrial dysplasia and neoplasm. Not recommended!

It is OK - ask GYN!: In consultation with your gynecologist, you may indeed try quarterly periods with continuous birth control pill intake (i.e. Skipping the placebo pills). Do not try this on your own, as it may have adverse consequences without medical supervision.
