A 22-year-old female asked about a 18-year-old female:
can wearing glasses with a prescription of -0.25 when you have 20/20 vision damage your sight?

No: Your prescription is rather weak and not required if your vision is 20/20. Your uncorrected vision won't prevent you from seeing 20/20 either. If your rx was just a bit stronger, you'd be blurrier without glasses. Night time vision brings out the blurry vision more, and therefore you may like this slight visual improvement. Either way, wearing your minimal rx won't harm your eyes.

Is it true that wearing glasses will actually worsen your vision when you start wearing them?

Dr. Pavel Conovalciuc answered

No: My personal example - i've worn eyeglasses for 13 years without significant change in my vision or prescription. If a worsening change occurs, it may be due to the worsening condition or natural aging that is age related.

A 41-year-old member asked:
If you are near sighted, is it possible for your vision to improve without wearing glasses?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Richard Bensinger answered
Ophthalmology 52 years experience
Unlikely: What you are implying is the common perception that the wearing of eyeglasses will cause a need for them to increase. The eyes will do the best whether or not the need for eyeglasses is corrected. At your age the most significant change will be presbyopia, the need for near vision correction as one advances over age 40.
