A member asked:

Had first episode of 'kaleidoscope eye'. started out as a small prism which gradually spiraled out and went away after ~20 min. what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

migraine: This is a migraine attack on the occipital lobe. It produces a greyed out patch on one side of the field of vision of both eyes at once and a kaleidoscoic pattern of flickering light surrounding the grey. These are benign, sometimes annoying but not harmful.
