A member asked:

Can antibiotics make parasites worse?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Both ways.: Some parasites compete with bowel bacteria for food, and killing bacteria would make more available for them. Could be the opposite: metronidazole, for example, is an antibiotic that also kills parasites; and Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) kills bacteria in lice that lice need to survive.
