A member asked:

If a girl has sex with a hsv2 positive guy, will it show up in blood work or pap smear 4 months later if she's never had any symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: If a woman has sex with someone who's hsv positive, it's not 100% that she will become positive herself. The partner has to be shedding virus in order for woman to be infected. It's possible to have exposure and antibodies to virus and never have had an outbreak. Hope that helps!
