A member asked:

How long will it take to get pregnant after the depo-provera shot been off for five months an have a period but its not regular yet?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

ovulation after depo: The Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot (dmpa) is given every 12-13 weeks to reliably prevent pregnancy but the hormones in the shot can persist for 6 months and for some women the resumption of ovulation can take a year. If you did not have regular periods before the dmpa you might need a medication like cyclic Provera to trigger a regular cycle and ovulation. Hopefully it will get regular soon, almost 6 months.
