I have been a smoker for about 5 years. i have had a pretty bad cold but i now have a small tender lump under my chin should i freak out?

No -- no freak out: Freaking out is not indicated, but an exam by your physician is. Plus at 19 you may want to reconsider your smoking habit. The small tender lump is most likely a lymph node, but it needs to be checked if it doesn't recede as your cold improves. Take care.
