Something else: If your pregnancy tests are negative, this abnormal bleeding is likely due to hormonal changes. Normal to have a period start out with dark blood and then turn bright red after a day or two. If you don't want to be pregnant, then birth control pills can help to regulate the cycle. If you do want to be pregnant, then just wait and try again next cycle. Good luck!
