One or many?: Most throbbing headaches are benign, i.e. Do not imply serious underlying disease. A single "worst headache of my life" event should provoke medical investigation. Recurrent throbbing headaches are usually migrainous and respond to specific treatment if diagnosis is confirmed. 3 or more migraine headaches monthly may profitably be treated preventively.
