A lot of things: Anything that irritates the uterus in pregnancy can cause cramping. For example, a uti, gastroenteritis, dehydration, bleeding to name a few. It's very very common to have cramping in each of the 3 trimesters. If accompanied by bleeding, definitely see doctor or go to l;d.
