A member asked:

When taking yaz, (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) can it reduce the chance of getting pregnant when you stop it?and the rate of birth problems is high?

Missed Birth Control: Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) or any birth control pills works to stop your ovary from functioning to make you ovulate. Therefore, stopping the pills and having your cycles return to normal will help you to get pregnant if you have unprotected intercourse. If your cycles aren't regular, then you may need help to get pregnant.

Be Careful: The company that produces the birth control pill "yaz" (generic: drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol, by Bayer (aspirin) pharmaceuticals), just finished a large, class-action lawsuit for the drug being shown to cause DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and many women were awarded hundreds-of-thousands of dollars, as a result. There are safer alternatives, please speak to your pcp or ob-gyn for options!
