A member asked:

Why is it more common for east asians to have intrahepatic calculi, as opposed to other people? dietary differences, racial differences?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

nobody really knows: There are several theories, including racial/genetic susceptibility, nutritional factors and concurrent infections with either bacteria or parasites, particularly ascariasis (a roundworm). They are also common in brazil, again for unknown reasons.
