no it shouldn't: Your dentist would apply a topical gel and than the shot is given..The canine and the molar region both area gums should feel numb after the topical gel applied..May sting for few seconds..And than you dont feel anything...Dont worry the process is not painful its more the look of the syringe ..Can let your dentist know you are really anxious about the proceedure so they can do there best to help.
