Suppressive Therapy: There are three major drugs commonly used to treat herpes symptoms: Acyclovir (zovirax), Famciclovir (famvir), and valacyclovir (valtrex). These are all taken in pill form. Severe cases may be treated with the intravenous (IV) drug acyclovir. You can increase the Valtrex ot try one of the other antiviral drugs. You may want to see your infectipis fisease doctor for help.

Should be enough: 1 gram of Valtrex (valacyclovir) daily should be sufficient to suppress herpes. If it's not, then maybe the diagnosis is incorrect, or you have resistant herpes (quite uncommon). The next time you get an outbreak, it would be useful to get the lesion cultured or sent for pcr testing to confirm the diagnosis.
