get to the root: The first thing is to be tested for your asthma. It is a simple test called spirometry. This , and your history, will permit the physician to make a proper diagnosis and recommend treatment. If you know now what things trigger an attack, either get rid of them (rugs, etc) or try to avoid contact (cats and dogs). Remember, get tested first. Good luck.

Probably: Those asthmatics who trigger an attack through extreme emotions may want to think this over before the ride. Otherwise, enjoy yourself.
A 38-year-old member asked:

If asthma goes away, can it return?

Maybe not, however: Asthma symptoms do seem to go away as a child matures( sometimes it doesn't and continues into adulthood). However, because your are symptom-free does not necessarily mean it cannot return. It may or may not and may take years if it is going to return. It may be a good idea to continue to stay away from those triggers that gave you attacks as a child.

Can asthma go away over time?

Usually not: Asthma may go away during early childhood but having a positive allergy skin test makes such remission much less likely. For most people, asthma tends to linger although the severity or frequency may vary. Having said that, although most studies have found asthma beyond age 7 to be a persistent problem, I have seen remission on a few >10 yrs. The answer is unlikely but probably not impossible.

i agree that asthma goes away spontaneously but seldom. Medicines cover up symptoms. what we propose is to treat the cause which is usually inhalants like dust mold pollen allergy or food allergy or a combination of both. in to learn treating the cause please visit us at www.ehacstl.com
