A member asked:

Dengue fever what should be the platelates count to maintain to platelates ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is safe over 20K: There is risk of bleeding if platelets drop below 10, 000. So we generally do not have to do any platelet transfusion unless the counts come down to below 20, 000. Platelets may have to be transfused every 3 to 5 days if they keep dropping down...So they need to be rechecked daily once they drop to 30, 000/mm3.
