Maybe,maybe not: About 70% of the abscesses now seen in the outpatient setting are mrsa.The designation is of little importance.By 1960 most staph were prsa, (penicillin) although they were not originally. Germs mutate and we seem to find ways to kill them. Abscesses usually respond best to incision and drainage. The public seems to cringe at this label as if it were the plague. It is not.
