Trazodone: When my patients become tolerant of their sleeping pills and they stopped working for them my first choice as a go to medication is trazodone. I typically prescribed it in the 50 mg tablets and tell the patient to take one to three at bedtime. Since it is somewhat unpredictable in terms of the dose i tell the patients to start low and go slow and gradually increase the dose until they are sleeping through the night without feeling hung over the next day. At that point i tell them to take it no higher. This should be an adequate solution to your dilemma. Please discuss with your physician. Best wishes.
