I've read some doctors on here say that chlamydia is no longer contagious after 48hrs. after taking azithromycin... is that true?

Perspective: I don't know if there is a true scientific answer for this. Most doctors recommend 7 to 14 days before unprotected intercourse. I retest all of my patients to make sure the infection has gone. Why the urgency ? Keep it in perspective though. Being treated for a sexually transmitted diseases is a big deal.

Ballpark: That antibiotic is almost always effective. It is unlikely that one would be contagious with chlamydia by 48 after treatment.
