Police Report 1st: There is no time limit for reporting sexual abuse. Police will take a detailed written statement. Sexual assault is a crime against the state, thus the police will determine if there is enough evidence to press charges. You become a witness to the crime. It can sometimes take years before charges are laid & the case goes to court. Criminal charges must be proven "beyond reasonable doubt.".
