Don't plan funeral: There's no telling. Many primary liver cancers, especially the common kind (hepatocellular carcinoma) get cured, period, with today's treatments. However, they can also kill unexpectedly by invading a major vessel. Metastases in the liver used to be fatal within a year as a general rule, but this is changing as chemotherapy becomes more effective and less toxic.
