Yes: I imagine that if the operator was forceful enough then there could be disruption of the hymen. If your hymen is intact but you are able to use tampons then the probe can probably be introduced with plenty of lubricant and gentle, steady pressure. You could ask to insert it yourself. If an intact hymen is important to you may consider declining a tv exam.
