Can confusion in sepsis be resolved?

Yes: The confusion can occur because of the infection itself, low blood pressure, or low oxygen levels in the blood or all of the above. Once the underlying infection is treated and oxygen delivery to the brain and blood pressure are improved, it nearly always resolves. One exception may be if there is brain infection.

Yes and no: As the sepsis resolves, most of the time mental state improves, depending on the damage done during the event and site of damage. If stroke occurred, for example during the event, recovery will show the deficit of the stroke. Cognition usually fully resolves.
