Probably normal: The cramps associated with you period are often caused by the production and release of prostaglandins. Those prostaglandins cause muscle contractions, hence the uterine cramps. However, those same prostaglandins can also make the bowel contract - therefore you experience cramps and pain throughout the abdomen.
